It’s a flat world after all

by Jay Cross on June 6, 2006

As an enthusiast for both informal learning and the web, I expected to fill an unworkshop that brings the two topics together.

What I didn’t expect was a global audience. Our participants hail from Italy, Denmark, the Canary Islands, Tanzania, Kuwait, and Australia, as well as the United States and Canada.

Thanks goodness for Skype, Gizmo, and VoIP. Without them either the phone companies would own us or we would not be able to host an international, interactive experience like this one.

We’ll be learning a lot of lessons about cultures as well as hosting a global event using largely inexpensive or free software and services. I’ll share some of what we learn this month on our informal learning blog.
