The audience at the closing presentation was probably more impressed that a $200 camera, smaller than a pack of non-filter Camels, could shoot two hours of decent quality video. (My $1200 Sony mini-cam resides in a drawer somewhere.)

This is the camera I carry, a Casio Exilim EX-S600 6MP Digital with 3x Optical Zoom (Blue), $199.99

A SanDisk 2 GB SD Memory Card will store two hours of quality video. Cost is $29.77

one should always be cautious when announcing a technological “find” such as the small camera. The move appears to be to dual band smart phones. Just check out the specs on just the camera on the “ancient” ATT/Cingular 8525 by HTC with a macro lens and full features found on most stand alone cameras.
the race is on for the universal “hand held” all in one as memory gets cheaper and smaller and small screens have higher resolution. A workstation, full university course curriculum, wireles/wifi/gps/… makes the iPhone and most digital cameras obsolete b4 they are out of the box.
Tom, I want to take photos and video while the race is still in motion. For a couple of hundred bucks, I’ve got something more powerful than my Sony videocam and my old Olympus combined, with an IC sound recorder thrown in for good measure.
I know that one day we’ll have the power of Blue Gene in a unit the size of a sugar cube, but I fear I might be dead by then, and I’d hate to have missed the ride up the exponential curve in the meantime.
