Caveat: If you don’t use WordPress, this will probably not interest you.
I just updated my blogs internettime.com and informl.com with one click. Almost. I went to my ISP’s panel, and clicked “Upgrade to WordPress 2.3.” A few hours later I checked the sites. Both were dead. (Sinking feeling sets in.) Then they announced a corrupted database (Oh, no!), followed a few minutes later with a notice “Press here to upgrade database” (Oh, yes!) and bingo! Both blogs are running under the new version.
This one-touch installation feature is one of many eccentric but great features of my ISP. You may want to try DreamHost for yourself.
[DISCLAIMER: DreamHost will lower my bill if you sign up with the above links or use the referral code KARMA99 when asked. You will also receive $10 off DreamHost’s standard fee.]

For $10/month, you get 500 GB of storage, unlimited MySQL databases, unlimited email accounts, free domain registration, PHP4, Ruby on Rails, MediaWiki one-click install, and on and on.

The WordPress 2.3 upgrade does destroy two database tables. I test the upgrades on sites one-by-one and indeed the first time it ruined two tables, which I restored by hand. So I urge caution on the 2.3 upgrade – perhaps even waiting for 2.3.1 unless you have the ability to fix database tables yourself (or unless your host can do it for you).
