reQall

logo_reqall.pngThis free tool is so cool that I was surprised to note that I had not blogged it. (reQall is not even listed among Jane Hart’s Directory of thousands of eLearning tools.)

Imagine I want to be reminded of something. I call reQall on my cell and say the date and item. reQall interprets what I said to text and emails me at the time I specified. You can mix and match what device you use and how you use it:

Try it.

Thanks for this, Jay.

It looks like a cousin of Jott, which I stumbled across last month (jott.com). With Jott, you can set up email addresses, then call Jott. Jott will convert a voicemail message to an email.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the car lately, and have used Jott (together with my Bluetooth headset) to “write” notes to myself — dictating them to Jott, then receiving them later via my own email.

I used to use Jott, but then I discovered reQall, which I like a lot more. First of all, reQall is free, which you can’t argue with. Like Jott, I call into reQall and tell it what I want remembered. But what’s great is that I can be reminded via text or voice, in case I’m not near my computer (I don’t have an iphone or blackberry). The other feature I really like about reQall is how it randomly reminds me of things. I use this as a stress relief tool. I remind myself to take three deep breather, to stretch, or even to take a five minute walk. Without random reminders to do, I may not take the time for these brief, and much needed pleasures. My vote is with reQall. i just love it!
