Optimism is here, a small bright light in a world dark with the credit crunch and Mumbai terrorism.
Joseph Pierre Ndiaye, Sengal. Senegal is host country for eLearning Africa this year. Permanent secretary to the minister of education. Il parle en Français. Il lit son papier. Alors, pas de spontanéité.
How can a wi-fi net be soooooo slow? It takes me five minutes to make a tweet.

Michael plays The Machine Is Using Us in double time. When he uploaded it, two days later, there were 253 views on YouTube. Digg picked it up. Two days later, more than 1000 had viewed the video. (For an academic, this was amazing! Michael took screenshots.)

teaching has not changed; learning has changed
Norbert Bolz, celebrity professor. From knowledge management to identity management.
- Serious play. Paradise of work. Communication and mobility. Communication is fun. Work time converging with free time (at least for successful people).
Self design. Brand You. Ego casting.
Identity management. Social wealth.
Attention management. Knowing more and more about less and less. Ignorance. Takes trust.
Linking value. Surplus value of the 21st century. Strength of weak ties. (Strong ties are not communication-rich.)
Michael Wesch is an impossible act to follow. Nonetheless, listening to Bolz repeat other people’s ideas, professor-style, is a jarring difference.
Roger Larsen, of Fronter, is promoting open-source collaboration tools. Fronter is async and uses Elluminate for sync. Fronter is an LMS, CMS, eportfolio, admin, and collaboration. Roger talks of open source as a concept but sells a closed system.
