No net connection, no Jay

Parador Gil Blas in Santillana del Mar

Last night around midnight, wireless connectivity at my hotel in Santillana del Mar disappeared. When I complained at the front desk this morning, the fellow told me that wireless really worked only in the lobby and the reading room. I brought my computer downstairs; wireless was still dead. They gave me a cable to try; it did not work.

I told the clerk that for me, going without internet access was like doing without running water or electricity. Parador headquarters in Madrid investigated the problem and reported back that wireless was working. Mierda. I checked out. I’m writing this on a bus to Bilbao.

Post script: I checked in at the Hotel Barco Nervion in Bilbao. I paid 12 Euros for 24 hours of wi-fi. I’m sitting in the hallway with my Mac plugged into the shaver outlet in the bathroom; that’s the only part of the room where the wi-fi works. Grrrrr.

Had I known you were around, Jay, I would have offer you the penthouse of my house, in Santander, I have for friends.
Next time, if you feel like it, do not hesitate. Nice belt of scotch awaiting.
By the way, I’ve got the flip Mino you spoke about and, it’s great fun indeed.
Best wishes
