Sir Tim Berners-Lee, on the twentieth anniversary of his invention of the web, gives a 16-minute TED talk on the future. Link data = everything is connected to everything; don’t hide the connections. Relationships to the level of mysticism. Tim is disarmingly clear; his profundities are aw, shucks, of course. “Raw data now,” he chants. Tim wants the real stuff, not filtered pablum. Don’t generalize; share the real deal.
Tim’s conclusion reminds me of Goethe’s observation that if everyone swept in front of his house, the entire world would be clean.
