Blog allure
Last week Dave Winer asked me what tool I blogged with. "Movable Type, because I like the flexibility and the content management." He said I should use Manilla. I replied that all Manilla blogs looked alike to me. Dave claimed that was not at all true, that Manilla blogs are as varied in appearance at Movable Type's.This afternoon I mounted a minor side-by-side comparison. I took the first nine MT blogs listed on weblogs.com this afternoon. Because I wasn't getting a lot of Manilla hits, I entered "Manilla blog" into Google and took the first nine hits that came up there. I eliminated utility blogs and one-entry blogs.
Which set of blogs do you find most varied?

The Manilla blogs are on top, the MT blogs on the bottom.

Jay,
I believe the difference is not in tools, but in the skills level of their users. Using MT requires higher level of web-design-administration skills, so it's not surprising that MT users can also make more advanced templates.
I'm thinking of moving to MT for a last year. but I'm scared of technical issues (I have enough with Radio, which about is Manila skills-level).
