Hi everyone!
I have been asked to be a moderator for Eurekster.com's search group beta (I know one of the guys who loves here in New Zealand). For those of you who don't know, Eurekster is a search engine with a social software bent -- results are given greater relevancy based on the activity of people in your social group. With the new search groups, one now has the ability to filter results by an affinity group, in this case eLearning (one of the first 3 search groups they are beta-testing).
So, for instance, a search for Sam Adkins, filtered by the eLearning affinity should bring up our own Sam, instead of Sam Adkins the rugby player, or what have you.
Still a very early beta, but it's very interesting technology. Of course, it's all the more useful with a few participants, so e-mail me for the beta password, if you're interested. I'm in the process now of seeding it with relevant sites (by doing searches and picking results that are relevant). It would be great to have others doing the same.
It's also possible to add a Eurekster search to one's site, using a pre-defined filter like eLearning. Oh, and there's a toolbar, of course!
