Situation: Sixty professionals from wildly divergent disciplines convene for two days to explore building a learning culture. Throughout this open forum, Eileen Clegg recorded the discussion graphically on large sheets of paper taped to the wall for all to see.

Benefits: Sessions were productive. The graphics reinforced important points and showed the relationships between them. Controversy due to misunderstandings was reduced. During breaks, participants would stand at the murals, rehashing points as they pointed to "where they were" in the discussion.
